Is it the beginning of the end for printed Yellow Pages?

Published On May 13, 2011

Yellow Pages have been a staple in the home and office for most Americans over the past few decades. Recent news in San Francisco could be starting the end to that trend.

the yellow pagesAs reported in an article in the Los Angeles Times, San Francisco passed a first vote legislation that would restrict delivery of the Yellow Pages directory to only those who want them. The vote passed 10 – 1.

This certainly doesn’t mean an end to the Yellow Pages; however, it does signal a transition that supports the numbers. More and more people turn to the Internet to find goods and services. If the trends progresses inward from the West coast, small businesses will need to focus a more significant effort to their online presence and trend away from relying solely on an ad in the Yellow Pages.

If you are a small business and don’t have a web presence, you SHOULD! If you have one, now would be a good time to put some effort into making sure you are getting that most out of your online efforts.
